
SAC Member Alex Zarow, age 77, of Milton, DE, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Bayhealth Hospital in Milford, DE.
Born on May 6, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, Alex was the beloved son of the late Mervin and Edith (Goldberg) Zarow. Alex was a proud graduate of Temple University, Class of 1972, where he earned his degree in pharmacy. Alex later completed his MBA at Johns Hopkins University in 2000.Alex dedicated his life to the profession of pharmacy serving the community for over 50 years and receiving recognition from the Governor of Maryland. From 2001 to 2020, he served as Director of Pharmacy at Bayhealth Medical Center. Even after retiring, Alex continued practicing part-time at Beebe Medical Center until his passing. On August 14, 1992, Alex married Ayn Hoyt in the British Virgin Islands. Alex was a lifelong tennis player and sports enthusiast, an occasional scuba diver, and a recreational sailor and former member of the Rehoboth Bay Sailing Association (RBSA). In recent years, he found joy as a radio-controlled airplane modeler and pilot, proudly flying with the Sussex Aeromodelers Club (SAC). Alex is survived by his wife, Ayn Hoyt; his sister, Robin Michaels, and niece Holly; along with his daughter, Jessica Zarow and his granddaughters, Alexis and Natalie.

Maynard Lee Spicer ,89. passed away on October 4th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Seaford, Delaware on May 31, 1932, he is the son of the late Shelley Orlando Spicer, Sr., and Maude Virginia Wright Spicer. Maynard graduated from Seaford High School in the Class of 1950, where he played football and basketball. He went on to graduate with a business degree from Goldey-Beacom College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and upon his return was hired by Holloway Brothers Tools Inc., where he worked for 39 years.
Maynard was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, as well as a member of The Seaford Lions Club, The Oxford Sailing Association, The Association of Seaford Sailors, The Sussex Aeromodelers Club, and on the board of the Seaford Museum. He loved watching his grandchildren compete in their sporting events, sailing the Chesapeake Bay, creating train layouts, building model airplanes, crafting furniture, and tracing his family ancestry.

Jeff Allaband, 54, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford.
Jeff was born Sept. 1, 1966 in Dover, the son of Hewitt Wayne Allaband Sr. and the late Joan Marie "Pippin" Allaband. After graduating from Felton High School he worked for Playtex for a few years before going to work as a carpenter for around 35 years most recently working for Mike Biddle Contracting. Jeff loved building and flying model airplanes and was a member of the Susserx Aeromodelers Club where he was also certified to fly model planes with turbine engines. He also enjoyed go kart racing and spending time on the farm with the animals.
Mike Theil
Michael Theil was born on June 7, 1952 and passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019. He graduated from Seaford High School in Seaford, DE. Mike was a member of the Sussex Aeromodelers Club.
Bud Synder
Harold Sidney Snyder, Jr. (Bud) died August 30, 2019 at age 89. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota he joined the Navy after high school. A “terrible student” he excelled in the Navy, working his way up through the ranks, retiring, after 24 years, as a Lieutenant. His license plate said US NAVY showing the pride he had servicing his country. Bud’s first duty station was Chincoteague, Va. where he met his wife of 66 years, Betty Jane Whaley of Laurel. After retirement he owned a custom picture framing business using his creative talents to display his clients treasured works of art till age 87. A military burial at sea will take place as he requested. Bud was also a member of the Aeromodelers Club in Seaford, DE.
